Once upon a time, there was a theme park called Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris is now offering VIP visits to help visitors discover the park in a whole new way. Webedia was hired to produce the promotional video, highlighting little-known areas of the park. Our VFX department was called in to make visual improvements to certain shots.
The video presenting the VIP Tour of Disneyland Paris had some sunny shots and some cloudy ones.
Our mission on this project was to improve the aesthetics of the video, by replacing the grey and creating a blue sky, with a few clouds in the shots that needed them, thus matching the colours and atmosphere of the video.
To do this, we used a 3D workflow consisting of 3D matchmoving for all the shots, which enabled us to project a sky onto a sphere. This projection enabled us to have the same type of sky throughout the video, regardless of camera movements.
We also cropped out the objects in the foreground so that we could inlay the sky into the video.
