Context: L'Effondrement, a series of expectations.

Collapse, an engaged and topical mini-series, is a concept of Bastien Ughetto, Jérémy Bernard and Guillaume Desjardins, of the Parasites.
Regularly questioning the problems of our society through their previous videos and actions, they mark the spirits by this series on the theme of collapsology that gives food for thought.
Published on Canal + in late 2019, this series, both technical and artistic, plunges the viewer into total immersion through its episodes in sequence shots and shoulder camera.
On this project which proved to be a real challenge, we intervened on the main special effects of the 7th episode of this series entitled «The island».

Services: Special Effects and Design on episode 07 «The island».

In order to carry out this project in the best possible conditions, we sent our team to the filming locations to supervise the plans concerned by the special effects.
Thus, we were able to prepare as well as possible all the elements we needed for an optimal integration of VFX (taking HDRI, reference taking, help with framing for VFXplans, etc.)

Once the land was found, our mission was:
– Cutting out plans incorporating 3D effects.
Tracking and 3D camera.
– Design for island, drone and underwater mines.
– Modeling, texture, animation and integration of these elements.
– Identical reproduction of the buoys according to the filming references.
– Creation of 3D shipwrecks.
– Creation and reproduction of a full 3D underwater plan (CGI).
– 3D simulation of particles, fumes, explosions, flares, etc…
- Removal of coastlines, surrounding boats, anchors, etc.
– Post-production

This great project was a challenge that we enjoyed taking up, pushing us to adapt our tracking techniques, creating a new workflow based on different techniques of manual and software matchmoving.
